Bor Prokofjev's solo Equilibrium and the performance my own private* by Petja Golec Horvat are presented as a double-bill. This pairing is deliberate, acknowledging that both artists are at the nascent stages of their journeys, yet their choreographic approaches and effects are remarkably diverse. Both works showcase remarkably intricate choreographic languages.
Solo Equilibrium (2024) Bora Prokofjeva in predstava moj privatni lastni* (2025) Petje Golec Horvat sta umetniški deli, ki smo se ju zaradi dejstva, da sta njuna avtorja na začetku svojih umetniških poti in da so njuna koreografska sredstva in učinki zelo raznoliki, odločili predstaviti v enem večeru. Obe deli sta primerka dveh osupljivo kompleksnih koreografskih govoric.
About project:
Equilibrium is a meticulously crafted montage of kinetic distillates – exceptionally clear movement actions that Prokofjev explores at their extremes. At these edges, their kineticism is transformed into semantically dense substances, transcending purely dance-related problems. Their kinetic consistency and escalation undeniably make them a compelling refuge for contemplating the existential aspects of human time.
We have had the opportunity to truly appreciate Bor Prokofjev’s prowess in various dance forms, including urban and street styles and also in performances of local, established choreographers, such as Matjaž Farič. Equilibrium differs significantly from Prokofjev’s previous dance performances. With his debut, it becomes clear that he has a profound and extensive insight into movement processes, the dynamic qualities of motion, their potential meanings, and their expressive possibilities. The artist’s use of these means of expression is undeniably mature. Balance (Equilibrium) is one of the most common metaphors for transferring specific kinetic dynamics to life, or even into an individual’s actions or states, into the construction of our self-narratives. Bor Prokofjev, with his effective and solidly constructed solo, opens up these self-narratives for discussion and reflection. Equilibrium also functions as a form of testimony by a person of a younger generation about their own position in the complicated world we find ourselves in today. The diversification of the choreographic field through varied and artistically suggestive dance writings has consistently been a programmatic aim of CoFestival, with the aim of expanding the spectrum of choreological approaches in the local space. With Bor Prokofjev’s Equilibrium, we can now add another outstanding anthological work to the local contemporary dance solo repertoire.

Equilibrium je premišljena montaža kinetičnih destilatov, zelo jasnih gibalnih akcij, ki Bora Prokofjeva zanimajo v skrajnostih. Na robovih, kjer se njihova kinetičnost pretvarja v semantično goste snovi in prenehajo delovati izključno kot plesni problem, ampak prav zaradi kinetičnih doslednosti in stopnjevanj postanejo lepljivo zatočišče za premišljevanje o eksistencialnih vidikih človeškega časa.
Plesne veščine Bora Prokofjeva smo imeli doslej priložnost spoznati v t. i. urbanih ali uličnih plesnih oblikah, gledali pa smo ga tudi v predstavah nekaterih uveljavljenih domačih koreografov, kot je Matjaž Farič. Nič od tega, kar smo že videli v plesnih nastopih Bora Prokofjeva, se v Equilibriumu ne ponovi. Z avtorskim prvencem nam postane jasno, kako poglobljen in razvejan je njegov uvid v gibalne procese, dinamične kvalitete gibanja, njihove potencialne pomene in kakšne so njihove izrazne možnosti. In kako zrelo vsa ta izrazila umetnik rabi. Ravnotežje je ena najpogostejših metafor, s katero se specifična gibalna dinamika prenaša na življenjska, tudi biografska ravnanja ali stanja človeka. Na naše samopripovedi. Bor Prokofjev nam s svojim učinkovitim in trdno zgrajenim solom omogoči, da se nam lastne samopripovedi odprejo za pogovor in razmislek, hkrati pa Equilibrium deluje kot oblika pričevanja človeka mlajše generacije o lastnem položaju v izjemno zapletenem svetu, v katerem smo se v zadnjih letih znašli. Diverzifikacija koreografskega polja z raznolikimi in avtorsko sugestivnimi plesnimi pisavami je bila vselej težnja CoFestivalovih programskih edicij, ki so nastajale z nalogo, da bi se v domačem prostoru razširil spekter koreoloških pristopov. Z Equilibriumom Bora Prokofjeva se zdi, da je v depo domačih sodobnoplesnih solov vstopilo novo antologijsko delo.
