O predstavah
Zasesti plesišče in iskati naprej … Ponovno in spet.
ROJENA ZUNAJ SVOJE VASI, 1978.

About the performances
DANCEFLOOR - It’s better to start without words, merely from an affect that this has to happen. When it seems it’s as if jumping a vaulting horse without the spring board. The jump off is at the begining and on the inside and it can’t be determined – it only wants to „jump over“. To fill the dancefloor and search beyond... Dancers and choreographers Jana Menger and Maša Kagao Knez, each one of them with her own dance expression, meet on the dancefloor and continue with the initial motif - only this time Jana Menger is the dancer, Maša Kagao Knes is the observer. Dancefloor (PlesIšče) is a performance that lets out all that has accumulated in more than twenty years and needs to be danced out. Praise to the body and to dance. Like pumpkin soup. See you on the dancefloor. Again and again.
BORN OUTSIDE HER VILLAGE, 1978. - the African word kagao means woman born outside her village, 1978 indicates the year of her birth.
Maša Kagao Knez whose roots are Slovenian on her mother’s side and from Burkina Faso on her father’s is a dancer and choreographer, born and raised in Ljubljana. She has been actively involved in the Slovenian dance scene for almost two decades. Between 2004 and 2006 she attended the Georges Momboye school for traditional and modern African dance in Paris. “I am neither black nor African but I am not modern either,” says Maša and continues: “When I’m in Slovenia I’m not a modern dance performer and in Africa I’m not an African dance performer. I’m an outsider wherever I go.”
Her solo performance is based on the experience of being on the outside and not belonging anywhere, as well as on the principles of dual identity. Maša invited two choreographers, Rosana Hribar (from Slovenia) and Filibert Tologo (from Burkina Faso) to use their two different perspectives and develop the physical dance material of a single body, the body of the dancer Maša Kagao Knez.
Whilst the first part of this research of movement was entitled Born Outside Her Village (choreography by Rosana Hribar), the second part, created a good year later is called 1978 (choreography by Filibert Tologo). The two parts form despite their duality (and precisely because of it) and due to their two different performative languages an entity intrinsic to humans and the dual principles of human action (good, bad), position (place, time) and notion (male, female).
