O predstavi

Delimo si ritem. Imamo namen. Iščemo smisel. Ustvarjamo gibanje, ki govori o tem iskanju. Uporabljamo ponovitve.

Naključje, svobodna volja in avtonomija, s ciljem odkrivanja resnično novih teritorijev.

Spodaj je nekaj razmišljanj in opažanj plesalk in plesalca: Alje, Eme, Lare, Luke, Patricije in Julije.

»Gesta vsebuje nekaj neizogibnega, in to je gibanje.«

»Izvedi partituro z zaprtimi očmi. Geste postanejo nekoliko manjše, a so še naprej stabilne. Izgubi se v ponavljanju.«

»Skrivanje in razkrivanje.

»Gibanje, stalno pogajanje in odločanje. Taljenje, zapreti oči, odpreti nogo, sprostiti čeljust, ustvariti prostor za prste, projekcija celotne figure, sprostitev.«

»Preobrazba, prilagoditi se.«

About the performance

We are sharing a beat. We have a purpose. We are searching for meaning. We are creating movement that speaks about this search. We use repetition. We change. So what is a gesture?

Due to the unique circumstances during the creation process, REALIGNMENTS unfolded at a distance, using online meetings and video interactions. Our methodology involved reflecting on and studying selected art materials, common physical tasks, feedback and review. The fundamentals evolved naturally, generating individual scores of movement and a clear path for the identity of the work. Chance, free will and self-determination, with the aim of touching on genuinely unexplored territory.

Below are some reflections and notes from the dancers: Alja, Ema, Lara, Luka, Patricija and Julija.

“There is something unavoidable in a gesture, and it is movement.”

“Run a score with closed eyes. Gestures become a bit smaller, but they stay solid. Get lost in repetition.”

“Hiding and exposing. I would like to play more. I would like to invite the elasticity of soft tissues to play a bigger role. How to bring more curves into the gestures when their origin is geometrical?”

“The strangest, most sensible part of the body.”

“It was a nice thing to come back to the basics. The intensity of the muscles and the whole body structure, the skeleton itself, so to speak. I wanted to understand the meanings of certain poses. Tomorrow, I might look at them from an entirely different perspective.”

“No mistakes, just happy little accidents.”

“Feels as if the back of the neck is lifted and dropped on the hand. Jaw conversation.”

“Gloriously agitated.”

“Moving, constant negotiation and decision making. Melting, to close the eyes, to open the leg, to relax the jaw, to create the space for fingers, to project the whole figure, to release.”

“Transformation, to readjust.”

O avtorici

V zadnjih letih združuje lastne kreacije – Argh! (2014), Sujetos (2015), Despacio (2016) Una serie de aproximaciones sucesivas (2018) in Puzzling (2018) – z različnimi sodelovanji z namenom nadaljnjega razvoja svoje umetnosti izven lastne produkcije.

About the author

BLANCA ARRIETA (Vitoria, 1970) is a choreographer, dancer and collaborator with numerous contemporary creations to her name. She received her training at London Contemporary Dance School / The Place. In 2000, after working as a freelance performer for several choreographers and companies throughout Spain, England and Ireland, she began to express her own choreographic voice. Initially, this was through an intense focus on movement exclusively. Works produced during this period were: Vértigo (2000), Zero (2001) and 3600 (2003). She continued refining her craft through the creations: Memoria (2005), Efecto Mariposa (2006), Rest (co-produced by El Mercat de les Flors, Barcelona in 2007), En la ciudad de los ángeles (2008), Muda (2008), Chalada (2009) and Frágil (co-produced by Agora de la Danse and Montréal Danse, Cánada, in 2010). The process of creating these pieces has resulted in an established character and personality to the work. In recent years she has combined the creation of her own: Argh! (2014), Sujetos (2015), Despacio (2016), Una serie de aproximaciones sucesivas (2018) and Puzzling (2018), with various collaborations, to further develop her craft outside of her own production.

Between 2016 and 2018 she was part of the coordination team and artistic assistant for Dantzan Bilaka, a scheme run by the Basque Government for the development of Dance. In 2018 she was one of the artists in residency of the program Atalak 2.0 of Dantzaz Company, collaborated with visual artist Mabi Revuelta on her project Acromatica and participated in the performance Any table any room of Jonathan Burrows and Matteo Fargion at the Artium Museum, InTacto Festival (Vitoria).

Based in Bilbao, she has produced works of very varying nature that have been seen throughout Spain and Europe, and as far afield as Canada and USA.
