24. 4. - 20. 00 - Katja Kolarič: KAKO MI JE IME?

March 27, 2025

Katja Kolarič: KAKO MI JE IME? / WHAT IS MY NAME?

plesna predstava / a dance performance

Koncept in režija / Concept and Direction: Katja Kolarič
Glasba / Music: Andrej Supančič
Oblikovanje svetlob / Light design: Špela Škulj
Fotografija / Photography: Drago Videmšek, Mirjam Lamut, Tihana Milak
Umetniška dela / Art works: Katja Kolarič
Koprodukcija / Co-production: Plesni teater Ljubljana

About the project:

The project titled "What is My Name?" is a multi-layered experience that combines performative expression with visual imagery, exploring the complexity of motherhood in contemporary society. In this multi-dimensional collage, movement intertwines with the coloristic expressiveness of oil paintings, where movement becomes like ink, redrawing the contours of existence. The performance, however, does not remain solely on an aesthetic level; with complex choreographic elements, it delves deeply into the essence of the issue, where the mother, placed in front of complicated crossroads generated by the paradigm of motherhood, loses and re-discovers her identity in the vortex of dilemmas. Beyond its aesthetic dimension, the performance raises philosophical questions about a society that often overlooks the profound changes a woman experiences during pregnancy and childbirth. The mother’s exclusion from the artistic realm after childbirth becomes a symbol of collective amnesia, which fails to acknowledge the value of motherhood. In doing so, it opens the door to critical reflection on societal norms that limit the role and potential of women as mothers and artists in contemporary society.

O projektu:
