July 25 Beautiful morning, bora is blowing, we are raising sail to leave. Pino cannot pull out the anchor because it is entangled in the chains of other fishing boats. He has to lower the sail. After half an hour of unsuccessful trying, one fisherman decides to help us so he dives to unleash our anchor. Finally, the anchor is on the deck, the sail is raised and as we leave we observe the island Balkun passing by our right side of the sailboat. The storm subsides, the pleasant mistral starts- that is an opportunity for a delicious lunch. Galeb approaches a sailboat with the English flag. We sail parallel for quite some time, but gradually the distance between the sides of the ships is becoming critical. Galeb does not deviate from its course. It almost comes to an accident. Except for a few frightened screams, nothing devastating happened and the sailboats continue each in their own direction. During a strong mistral, we anchor the boat in the port of Bol.

25. julij Krasno jutro, burjica, dvigneva jadro za odhod. Pino pa ne more izvleči sidra, ker je zapleteno v verige ribiških čolnov. Morava spustiti jadro. Po polurnem, neuspešnem nategovanju, pomaga nek ribič s potapljanjem. Končno je sidro na krovu, jadro dvigneva in ob sunkih burje zapuščava na desnem boku Galeba otok Balkun in se usmeriva proti jugovzhodu. Burja poneha, začne maestral, priložnost za kuho kosila. Galeb se približuje neki jadrnici pod angleško zastavo. Nekaj časa jadramo vzporedno. Razdalja med ladijskima bokoma postaja kritična. Galeb ne odstopi od svoje smeri in skoraj pride do trka. Razen nekaj prestrašenih krikov se ni zgodilo nič hudega in jadrnici nadaljujeta vsaka v svojo smer. Pri močnem maestralu se zasidrava v luki Bol.

O predstavi:
Plesna predstava Stopi iz moje sence kot osrednji motiv za svojo zgodbo jemlje jadrnico Pie in Pina Mlakarja, s katero sta do pozne starosti jadrala in se predajala silam narave, iz katere sta črpala navdih za svoje delo. Jadrnica Galeb tako postane simbol ljubezni do plesa in narave ter uteleša zgodbo njunega ustvarjanja. Plesalca Nastja Bremec Rynia in Michail Rynia, ki sta par tako v zasebnem kot profesionalnem življenju, bosta skozi zgodbo Pie in Pina tematizirala zlitje individualnosti dveh umetnikov, ki na trenutke postaneta senci drug drugega, istočasno pa se temu zlitju upirata in zarisujeta meje lastnega jaza.
About peformance:
Step out of my shadow puts a sailboat of Pia and Pino Mlakar as the essential motif of the story. They sailed with it up until their late age and took inspiration for their work from their travels. Sailboat named Galeb (Seagull) has become a symbol of love towards dance and nature; it embodies as well the story of the couple’s creativity. Dancers Nastja Bremec Rynia and Michail Rynia – couple in work and privately; will thematise a fusion of two individualities through the story of Pia and Pino Mlakar. These two individualities sometimes become shadows of each other, other times they fight against this fusion and draw the line of Self-being.

Pino Mlakar (1907–2006) and his wife Pia Mlakar (1910–2000) founded professional ballet school in Slovenia. They met in 1927 at the Rudolf Laban Choreographic Institute in Hamburg. Pia, born Maria Luiza Pia Beatrice Scholz, and Pino worked inseparable for 73 years, together they choreographed 50 ballets and became legends of Slovenian ballet at home and abroad. They were soloists, artistic directors, choreographers and educators. Their boat Galeb became the inspiration for the performance Step out of my shadow.
Pino Mlakar (1907–2006) je z ženo Pio Mlakar (1910–2000) utemeljil strokovno baletno šolanje v Sloveniji. Spoznala sta se leta 1927 na Koreografskem inštitutu Rudolfa Labana v Hamburgu. Pia, rojena Maria Luiza Pia Beatrice Scholz in Pino sta neločljivo delovala 73 let, skupaj sta koreografirala 50 baletov in postala legendi slovenskega baleta doma in v tujini. Bila sta solista, umetniški vodji, koreografa in pedagoga. Njuna barka Galeb je postala navdih za uprizoritev Stopi iz moje sence.
Nastja Bremec Rynia in Michal Rynia sta se po izobraževanju na akademiji Codarts Rotterdam Dance Academy na Nizozemskem in sodelovanju z nekaterimi najvidnejšimi nizozemskimi plesnimi ustvarjalci odločila, da bosta delovala in ustvarjala na obrobju slovenskega kulturnega prostora. Ustalila sta se ob državni meji in svojo ustvarjalno pot začrtala v sodobnem plesu, ki je v Sloveniji skoraj izven obzorja nacionalne kulturne politike. Začela sta z izobraževalnimi programi in uspešno delujeta v mednarodnem prostoru. V Novi Gorici sta ustvarila enega izmed plesnih centrov, kamor v zasedbe njunih predstav prihajajo plesalci iz vsega sveta, plesalci iz lokalnega okolja pa imajo možnost, da sodelujejo v mednarodnih zasedbah odmevnih projektov. MN Dance Company svoja dela predstavlja na uglednih odrih in festivalih doma in na tujem. V zadnjih treh letih sta Nastja in Michal ustvarila tri celovečerne predstave, pet plesnih miniatur, štirinajst kratkih plesnih filmov in številne druge priložnostne uprizoritve. Za film Set I sta prejela priznanje ameriške revije Dance Magazine, za film Horizon pa nagrado Lok, ki jo podeljuje Društvo avdiovizualnih slovenskih igralcev.
Nastja Bremec Rynia and Michal Rynia, after training at the Codarts Rotterdam Dance Academy in the Netherlands and working with some of the most prominent Dutch dance artists, decided to work and create on the outskirts of the Slovenian cultural space. They settled near the national border and charted their creative path in contemporary dance. They founded a dance center in Nova Gorica, where dancers from all over the world come to join the educational programs or collaborate in their performances. Whereas local dancers have the opportunity to participate in international casts of high-profile projects. MN Dance Company presents its works on stages and festivals at home and abroad. In the last three years, Nastja and Michal have created three full-length performances, five dance miniatures, fourteen short dance movies and many other occasional performances. For the film Set I, they received recognition from the American newspaper Dance Magazine, and for the film Horizon, they received the Lok award by the Society of Audio-visual Slovenian Actors.
Neda Rusjan Bric is a theatre actress holding a master's degree in theatre direction. She is a permanent member of the ensemble of the SMG Ljubljana, she works as an author of drama texts and as theatre director in Slovenia and abroad. Her work is inspired by real, historical events, which she interweaves with contemporary stories. She often accompany her performances with video projections. In her work, Bric like to fuse together events and personalities from different language areas into her stories. This is also a reason why she often directs international theatre co-productions. She writes as well for television and radio, is the author of literary works for children, is the artistic director of numerous national celebratory events and is a professor of screenwriting at the Academy of Arts of the University of Nova Gorica. She was also the leader of the winning candidacy for the European Capital of Culture Nova Gorica-Gorica 2025 and the artistic director of GO! 2025.
Neda Rusjan Bric je diplomirana dramska igralka in magistrica gledališke režije. Je stalna članica ansambla Slovenskega mladinskega gledališča v Ljubljani, kot avtorica dramskih besedil in gledališka režiserka pa deluje doma in v tujini. V svojih delih praviloma izhaja iz realnih, zgodovinskih dogodkov, ki jih prepleta s sodobnimi zgodbami, za kar kot izrazno sredstvo znotraj predstav uporablja tudi film. V svoje zgodbe vpleta dogodke in osebnosti iz različnih govornih področij zato večkrat režira mednarodne gledališke koprodukcije v različnih jezikih. Piše tudi za televizijo in radio, je avtorica literarnih del za otroke in mladino, številnih državnih proslav in slavnostnih dogodkov ter profesorica scenaristike na Akademiji umetnosti Univerze v Novi Gorici. Bila je tudi vodja zmagovalne kandidature za Evropsko prestolnico kulture Nova Gorica-Gorica 2025 in umetniška vodja GO! 2025.
